Our chairs and tables are made following DIN EN 1729 parts 1, and 2 defining ergonomic seating, safety and build quality: the European standard for furniture in schools.
Energy
For more efficient energy use, HABA has developed an energy policy that continuously measures and reviews its processes to optimise energy management, certified DIN ISO 50001. For all forms of energy (pressurised air, electricity, and heat), for all machines and buildings, we constantly analyse the influence and impact our energy use has on the environment and identify the potential for improvement, always using the most innovative modern energy management solutions. Always with the environment in mind. View our ISO 50001 certificate.
Wood
HABA furniture is made using mainly beech and birch hardwood. Hardwood is sourced locally from the regional forestry industry around Bad Rodach in Germany. In addition, the industry is by the PEFC system for sustainable forestry management. HABA actively contributes to the ‘right tree, right place’, ensuring that at least one tree is planted for every tree used. View our PEFC certificate.
Safety
Play equipment such as our GEMINO play lofts is made and certified by DIN EN 1176/1177 (playground equipment safety standards) concerning the construction and configuration of equipment, including safety distances and surfaces.

Öko-Tex Standard 100 certification ensures that fabrics and synthetic leathers do not contain any substances likely to endanger a child’s health.
GS mark
All products that bear the GS label are tested for safety. The German GS mark is a voluntary safety mark. It ensures that all technical requirements for the protection of a product are met and that all requirements will be tested and monitored by an independent testing company such as TÜV Rheinland. The tests cover all the product’s effects on human health and safety.
HABA furniture is guaranteed against manufacturing defects for ten years, made to the highest quality standards and GS-tested.
